Supplier catalog to online store, automated
The problem
The store sells furniture from a European supplier and adds new items regularly. Each product meant the same manual routine: copy the supplier’s page, translate it, rewrite the description in the store’s style, download and upload the images, set the category, dimensions and other attributes. That was 20–30 minutes per product. For a batch of new arrivals it took a full working day, and the usual tools for this are paid plugins or CSV imports that still need manual cleanup.
What I built
A pipeline that runs from a single Google Sheet, with no plugins installed on the store.
You paste a supplier product link into a row and set it to Scrape. The script fetches the page and sends it to Claude, which extracts the name, product type, dimensions, weight, description and image links, and translates the text into the store’s language. From the product type the script picks the right category, a wardrobe goes to Wardrobes, a shelf to Shelves, and assembles the description in the store’s own HTML format.
You check the row, adjust the price if needed, and set it to Run. Every ten minutes a trigger picks up rows marked Run and creates the products through the WooCommerce API, complete with images, categories, attributes and SKU. As many rows as needed can go in one batch.
The result
A product that took 20–30 minutes by hand now takes one to two minutes of checking and is live within ten minutes. The only running cost is the AI, about 2–3 cents per product, so 50 products cost around a dollar and a half. No subscriptions, no plugins, nothing new to maintain on the store.
